Standard Geometry - Room N128 (3108B1G Unified Geometry 1 Credit Grades 9-12) This course is designed to develop an understanding of the basic structure of geometry, both plane and solid, of the meaning and nature of mathematical proof, and of creative and critical thinking. The content includes the basics of formal geometric proofs, similar triangles, basic trigonometry, properties of area and volume and transformations. Prerequisite: Algebra I. |
Honors Geometry - Room N128
(3108B1H Unified Geometry Honors 1 Credit Grades 9-10) This course is for students who want a challenging approach to Unified Geometry. Emphasis will be placed on visualizing and performing transformations of figures; on investigating solid figures and trigonometric relationships; on connecting algebraic and geometric concepts; on justifying conclusions and making logical arguments; and on solving a greater variety of problems. It is recommended that students have a B average in Algebra I. All ninth grade students are placed according to the criteria listed above. Prerequisite(s): Algebra I. |
